This one's made for Adam.

From Jim Gilliam's talk at the Personal Democracy Forum: "God is just what happens when humanity is connected...We all owe every moment of our lives to countless people we will never meet. Whether it’s the soldiers who give us freedom because they fight for our country, or the surgeons who give us the cures that keep us alive. We all owe every moment of our lives to each other. We are all connected. We are all in debt to each other...I have faith in people, I believe in God, and the Internet is my religion."

Thanks Laura. We believe in the interconnectedness of all things.

I also found the video on YouTube.

I love that Ben Horowitz references it in his decision to invest in NationBuilder.

To which I respond: Software companies are poised to take over large swathes of the economy.

Also, Thomas Friedman once asked, "Is Google God?" and touched on similar themes.

I just watched this video again. It really makes me think.

I was thinking about all of the people who had gotten me here. I owed every moment of my life to countless people I would never meet. Tomorrow, that interconnectedness would be represented in my own physical body – three different DNAs: individually they were useless, but together, they would equal one functioning human.

[Watch the video.]

I owed every moment of my life to countless people I would never meet.

This.

I thought that was pretty great, too.

Btw welcome to one of the first-ever pages on PandaWhale!

Oops I hope I haven't walked on the flowers!

I like this sentence because, last year, when I was asking myself what I was really working for, part of the answer that came to my mind was this exact sentence. : )

One thing I love about PandaWhale is that we can revisit and add to old pages.

So it's more like you're watering the flowers!

And you're right, it's a great thing to work for. We stand on the shoulders of giants.

said BOOP. : ) ----------------------------------------------------------^^^^

I thought it was Isaac Newton?

shoulders of giants quote

Oh yeah you're right.

I made the confusion because there's a science/poesy radio program called "Sur les épaules de Darwin" = on the shoulders of Darwin.

This program is excellent but it's French only. : /

Just listen to his voice, it's amazing.

A fine sentiment, Laura! Long live the internet, long live the web!

Long live the Internet!

Long live the Web!

The Internet is my religion!!
