Forget the puppy love - S.F. is in the doghouse
Niall Kennedy stashed this in dogs
San Francisco SPCA conducted an online and phone survey of San Francisco dog owners in late 2011 yielding more than 700 responses. 60% adopted their dogs from a shelter or family & friends; 32% bought their dogs online from a pet store or from potential puppy mill breeders; 8% paid thousands for top-notch purebreds.
About half of animals brought to the San Francisco SPCA last year were surrendered by their owners.
32% from puppy mills?! How sad.
I wonder how many of those are the ones that get surrendered.
Thanks for these stats, Niall.
The Lesson: Never buy a pet from the Internet.
