Watson couldn't distinguish between polite language and profanity -- which the Urban Dictionary is full of. Watson picked up some bad habits from reading Wikipedia as well. In tests it even used the word "bullshit" in an answer to a researcher's query.Ultimately, Brown's 35-person team developed a filter to keep Watson from swearing and scraped the Urban Dictionary from its memory.

It's really hard to teach a machine under what contexts a word is appropriate.

WHY IS THE MAN KEEPING WATSON DOWN?!?! And for what? Trying to step up its vocab, as recommended by noted rapper Bun-B as well as countless high school English teachers. Can't knock the hustle...

Heh, well said Halibutboy. The Man wants Watson to behave professionally.

There's a time and place for every word in language, but some words are not safe for work.
