Great seed accelerator listing by Jed Christiansen using Crunchbase data

Looking at the list:

I'm astonished that the total number of accelerated companies is only about 1200.

Spread among about 100 accelerators though YC, TechStars, and 500 Startups are the big ones.

That's all?! I thought it was a lot more than that.

I think it's currently at 2367 accelerated companies according to Seed-DB... Jed Christiansen has done a great job developing this database but its weakness is that it solely relies on Crunchbase data - perhaps we'd get a different view of the success of accelerators if we could supplement this with some more data gathering and interviews. This is something I'm currently trying to work on. If anyone has spotted any interesting data on accelerators out there I'm keen to know about it.

There are over 2400 companies.  Jess is partly right; the _funding_ data comes from Crunchbase so I don't have everything there.  But I separately source the data for which companies come from which accelerators.  I'm constantly working on trying to improve the completeness, but some accelerators have made it VERY hard to identify which companies they've funded.
