"It's never been more apparent that you get what you pay for. Take, for example, the controversy over reaction to Sheryl Sandberg's new book, Lean In, which most people who've been writing about it haven't read. (The New Yorker had some nice commentary on this.) The constant need to blog, to chase, to comment, to opine is what's driving all the chatter about a book which presumably needs digesting and analysis to fully grasp and appreciate. Yet that's not how media consumers, addicted to speed and expecting what they get for free, behave these days."
