Audit: Vegas taxis overcharged $15M to airport
Rohit Khare stashed this in TRAVELMAN
Clark County taxicab drivers taking tourists on the scenic route to and from the airport overcharged their passengers an estimated $14.8 million last year, according to a legislative audit released Monday.
The report said the state Taxicab Authority needs to do more to prevent these roundabout rides, which are meant to run up the meter and accounted for 22.5 percent of the 2,730 airport trips that auditors reviewed.
NOT cool. What's next, taxis with slots in the back?
Rule #1 about taxis in Vegas.... don't let them take the expressway or the strip. ALWAYS make them take Trop along with Koval or Dean Martin or Sinatra... the expressway adds several miles to any trip. I learned this the hard way 15ish years ago with my first visit and while I lived there repeated that advice like a mantra...
I agree -- ALWAYS make them take Tropicana. Why do they even have an expressway???
