Did Facebook and Napster help the world or destroy it???

Zuckerberg-vs-Sean-Parker.jpg

Mark Zuckerberg is to the advertising world, what Sean Parker is to the music world... that is clear. But is that a good thing or a bad thing? Sean Parker creating Napster clearly altered the music world, but was it for the better? Maybe we should ask the artists that were selling brand new CDs buy the millions for $15 to $20 per (their opinion may be slightly different but they are still making plenty of money to feed their egos).

Now Zuckerberg creating Facebook led to a much larger chain reaction of social media (we all know the story). Now where everything stands paid advertising is dying rapidly and social media is forcing companies to gain reputation and exposure organically. 10 years from now we may look back on Mark Zuckerberg as the person that single-handedly killed media advertising... So should we thank these two gentlemen, or hate them?

I don't think Zuckerberg will kill media advertising. It is the foundation of Facebook's business.

I think that now, more than ever, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Music and advertising will both still be huge ten years from now.

I'm not saying Facebook itself will destroy media advertising, but Facebook did lead to the creation of these other Social Media platforms that are destroying the effect of Media Advertising. People are looking to their networks for purchasing advice, rather than paying attention to media ads. It is just very interesting to see these changes happening.
