The digital representation of the economy on LinkedIn would include not just job listings but all the skills required to get those jobs, as well as detailed profiles and data on all the companies and universities around the world, as well as all 3 billion professional workers globally. That’s a very large goal. “Our goal is to get out of the way and allow each node to connect and create the most value,” Weiner says.

LinkedIn has also been working on developing internal tools for its company to use private social networking data. While Weiner has “no definitive plans” for making that a product, that could be another area of growth.

LinkedIn has a partnership with Salesforce.com CRM +1.67% for help provide “social selling” through Salesforce, Weiner says. But providing software tools for internal company networking and CRM would be a natural step for Linkedin since it has so much data. LinkedIn has bought several companies that provide CRM tools or service, such as CardMunch and Connected.

Every Internet company wants to own a graph.

There are only 3 billion professional workers out of 7 billion people?
