It's hard enough to rely on our government to stay running and pay its bills, let alone tackle big problems:

"Unless we restore the ocean's health, we will experience the consequences on prosperity, wellbeing and development. Governments must respond as urgently as they do to national security threats – in the long run, the impacts are just as important," he said.

I'm not a big alarmist believer, but finally there is something scientifically measurable against these hundred year warnings of two inch ocean rises.  So coral is the canary in the coal mine?
