Johnnie Walker 1805 On The Block
Rohit Khare stashed this in Food
I first wrote about this back in 2005 when the Johnnie Walker 1805 was announced. The 200 bottles of whisky blended from whiskies that are at least 45 years old and of whiskies from distilleries that no longer exist were given out to high-profile individuals and never offered for sale. Now you can bid on a bottle of the stuff yourself at the Fine Wines and Spirits auction at Bonhams in London on April 25. The seller of the bottle will be donating the proceeds to the National Trusts for Scotland, England and Wales. The set is presented in a Victorian-style writing case with an antique nib pen and a replica of the original handwritten recipe book of Alexander Walker, John Walker's grandson. The bottle has a gold bust of John Walker and an etching reading: "The inventory of the stocks and effects of John Walker, November 1819". This bottle is #46 of 200 and should bring in £12,000 and £16,000.
