Seth Godin on social networking...
Michael Simmons stashed this in How To Be A Super Connector
Great distinction by Seth Godin about what a real relationship is in the world of social media.
Social media does create a lot of signal, which makes it easier to deepen relationships.
But it also creates a lot of noise, which makes relationships more challenging.
This made me think about a book called "All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten". .. just really a return to basics. The author Fulghum wrote “You may never have proof of your importance but you are more important than you think. There are always those who couldn't do without you. The rub is that you don’t always know who.” Its like... sure I have a gazillon followers on Vine, and" maybe I could monetize that but you can't quantify or monetize authenticity... that takes more than a "click" or a "like."
Wow this is an amazing quote and also beautifully said by you. Thank you sharing.
