How I hacked Instagram to see your private photos - insertCoin
Jared Sperli stashed this in security
I'm beginning to think that no one who writes social software understands privacy.
just now? haha The incentives are not there. Minimal Viable Product and Seed Rounds -> Series A. Growth growth growth.
where is the idea of being a good steward of others information fit into the desire to 1) make something cool 2) make money?
Instagram is long past its seed and Series A. It's a billion dollar company.
And still no incentive to worry about privacy.
So to answer your question, 1 and 2 trump "good steward".
and this is one good reason why there will always be security issues
Good news if you're in the security business.
