There's way too much high fructose corn syrup in commercial ketchups.
I wonder if you could use a blend of honey and organic maple syrup, in an amount = less than 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. I've been reading that maple syrup is good for the liver.
Yeah, that could work. Do ketchups need a sweetener at all?
The sweetener is there to balance out the vinegar. Without the vinegar and sweetener, ketchup is just marinara!
Ah! That makes sense. It's amazing how ketchup has a very different use than marinara even though without the vinegar / sweetener they're essentially the same ingredients.
And commercial marinara has too much sugar, too!
