Study finds that two-day-old infants prefer word-like basic linguistic building blocks.

As there's plenty of studies showing babies like listening to their mother's own voice in the womb, that's not surprising.  I guess the real test would be to have a mother make 9-10 months of non-word sounding sounds and see if they get the same results for 2-5 day old infants.

No mother in the world would want to do that experiment on her own child!

Mothers vocalize a torrent of non-words during labor and childbirth, probably 9 months' worth.

Not just non-words but obscenities too!
