Would You Rather to Be Right or Be Happy?
Tina Miller, MA,CFLE stashed this in happiness
Sometimes being right is so tied up in someone’s identity that if s/he would be wrong that would mean that s/he didn’t know who s/he was. So not being right is of course refuted fiercely.
One time a young person told me, "The difference between us is that you'd rather be right but I'd rather be kind". Without thinking I replied, "No, the difference is that it doesn't matter whether you're right OR kind because you're in marketing. I'm an engineer so it matters." So... if you're in a soft-skills job being right is just some ego trip that you should be able to let go of... but if you build things that have to work, maybe it's not. CONTEXT!
Is that a shorthand for "choose your battles wisely"?
