Email is only broken for the 1%.

That being said I loved what they were building. I just don't think they are solving a problem for 99% of people that yahoo, Facebook, microsoft and google have not already solved.

Why are they quitting? Didn't believe in the idea enough?

They don't say. Pre-launch.

Quitting pre-launch means they didn't believe in the idea enough.

Fluent users should backup their email before 17th August so that they do not lose their data. I suggest to try out Dropmyemail's email back up and migration service.

Thanks for the tip. Sorry Fluent was gone before I had a chance to try it.

I've been thinking about this a lot (yesterday mainly) and deciding that email is a tool we all love to hate - but not because it's feature set is particularly bad (or good), but because ultimately we are dissatisfied with ourselves. If our inbox is cluttered and disorganized, it's not the email's fault - it's just a reflection of how we live our lives. I think that a person's email inbox and outbox will reveal clues as to how they behave in other aspects of their lives. So I don't believe email is not broken. And therefore those who try to fix broken email will find it an impossible task. (I thought more about this and wrote this post on Quora:

I've heard email called your to do list that anyone in the world can add to by emailing you.

I send very few emails but I get a LOT of email. That won't change anytime soon.
