This collection of games allow students to learn in a game situation. There are a few ways these games may be used. Initially a game can be used to inform the teacher about students do and do not know to guide instruction- formative measure. If a student(s) knows a great deal, then the teacher can differentiate the instruction giving the student(s) a greater challenge. Most students will likely need instruction therefore direct instruction can be given. At this stage the game can be used as review. Again the teacher will keep track of the game results for each student to know which students need further instruction. A final possibility may be the game is the summative assessment and used to measure what students have cumulatively learned. Each game should be reviewed by the individual teacher so that he/she knows the compatibility to his/her students and individual needs.
