Braille printers cost $2000 each! This kid used a robot kit and some pushpins to make a prototype of a sub-$150 printer. Sounds like his dad is pretty savvy about business and gave him good advice on that side.

Why would a 12-year-old want to make a Braille printer?

“Over 200 million people in the world are blind and 90 percent of them are living in developing countries. And, a lot of people can’t afford the costly machines available in the market. So, can’t we do something about the cost?” Banerjee says.

The Californian failed 7 times before building a LEGO Mindstorm prototype that worked!

Banerjee spoke with NPR regarding his device, claiming that in the future he'd like to aim toward a career as either an "engineer, surgeon, or scientist," but he was leaning toward becoming an engineer.
