Director Michael Bay’s 1998 disasterpiece “Armageddon” sees a killer asteroid hurtling towards Earth and a team of deep-sea drillers sent on a mission to blow it up. If you actually think about the film’s premise for more than two seconds, you might ask yourself "Why wouldn’t they just train astronauts to drill instead?’

"On the Criterion commentary for “Armageddon,” Ben Affleck revealed that he asked the director that very same question. “I asked Michael why it was easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than it was to train astronauts to become oil drillers, and he told me to shut the f--- up, so that was the end of that talk.”
