4 Tech Companies Dominate Mobile Ads
J Thoendell stashed this in Apps
Facebook commands a third of mobile display ads. Add Google, and the two companies command half. Throw in Pandora and Twitter, and four tech companies control two-thirds. Apple eats another six percent. Every other app and publisher you've got on your phone? They're fighting over just one-quarter of the pizza.
What this says to me is that Pandora is a takeover target strictly for the ads.
And also that the mobile ad market really is winner take all.
If Google is able to buy Twitter and Pandora, it is STILL smaller than Facebook. Wow.
I guess in-app purchases are a better way for the not-big-five to make money.
No wonder Amazon wants its own phone.
