It does a pretty good job of balancing the complexity of the problem (blocking 3rd party plugins without breaking your desired website functionality).
Bonus: sites are now loading faster for me after blocking all social media widgets plus a ton of ad networks.
Those social media widgets and ad networks are worth blocking just for performance.
I tried Ghostery for a while as an essential browser plugin, but unfortunately it overlaps too much with too many other things that are trying to do the same thing. I took the more complex, but more control route with Noscript, Adblock, Flashblock, UserAgentSwitcher, WebDeveloper.
It's some combination of those plugins that's messing with our maintaining state while you OAuth, methinks.
