The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset’s first target market might have been video games—an obvious area of interest for new parent company Facebook. But it may soon go Hollywood too.

In recent weeks, Facebook representatives have been meeting with executives at all the major film studios as well as with individual directors about creating content specifically for the Rift headset, according to four people with knowledge of the conversations.

Among the ideas discussed would be to eventually get filmmakers and major media companies to develop “Oculus experiences” that could act as a companion to feature films. Eventually, full-length movies could be released directly to the device, two of the people say.
