We all know that poo can harbor some pretty funky microorganisms, but one you may not have heard of is the fungal genus Pilobolus, that's often found on herbivore excrement. These fungi shoot out their spores at speeds of up to 25 meters per second. While that might not sound hugely impressive, their acceleration is incredible as they can reach top speed in two millionths of a second.

So they're in the microbiome?

Yeah, it's like all they need is the air that they breathe.

In the microbiome or outside the human body works too?

They started in the microbiome but this seems like a different part of the life cycle when they bloom as fungi.   Must research.  (I started but got immersed in "core microbiome.)

Cool. What's core microbiome?
