Sharks Foundation blood drive
Joyce Park stashed this in The Sporting Life
There are two and a half great reasons to participate in the annual Sharks Foundation blood drive:
* It's your only opportunity all year to attend a San Jose Sharks game-day practice at the Tank.
* It's the biggest blood drive of the year for the Stanford Blood Center, so they're very organized and you can make your annual donation without having to drive to a center.
* Observationally it seemed like a pretty good place to meet single Sharks fans if that's your thing. ;)
The Sharks practice started right around 10:30AM and went for about an hour. Then there was about an hour intermission before the visiting team got their morning skate. I'd never seen an NHL practice before, the amazing thing is how many pucks there are all over the ice but no one ever seems to trip over one! It was super interesting to see the drills, who was getting extra help on certain skills, and which lines skated together.
It seemed like the best appointments were an hour before or after the Sharks practice because team members and SJ Sharkie stopped by to say hello and give out little squeezie sharkies to hold while you gave blood. By the end of the day things got a bit backed up so those afternoon appointments weren't as good.
It's a fun experience and a great cause and they give you excellent cookies afterwards! See you at the blood drive next spring...
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences at the Sharks blood drive. It's an exciting day of saving lives for everyone involved!
