Gorillaz Creator Jamie Hewllet Confirms Group's Return on Instagram
Janill Gilbert stashed this in Music
Over the past several months, Damon Albarn has offered multiple hints that Gorillaz, the animated band helmed by himself and artist Jamie Hewllet, would be reuniting in the near future to work on a follow-up to the group's 2011 album The Fall. Today, Hewllet posted artwork of fictional band members Murdoc and Noodle to his Instagram, leading curious fans to speculate on whether a reunion was in the works. Hewlett responded to a fan's query, "Yes Gorillaz Returns". REVOLT's Bryce Segall originally reported the news.
Using Instagram for announcements like this is clever. And evidence that Twitter's influence is waning.
Me too! Everything he touches is golden to me :)
Me too! Any word on when the new album drops?
You've heard Plastic Beach, right?
I don't know the exact date, of the release of the new album. I loved Plastic Beach, I think it's my favorite, introduced me to Yukimi (Little Dragon), and the just passed Bobby Womack. I saw them at the Oracle Arena Halloween a couple years ago, and it was magical :)
Wow how cool! I will have to look into Yukimi and Bobby Womack.
Womack comes in at 2:05
Robert Dwayne "Bobby" Womack (/ ˈ w oʊ m æ k /; March 4, 1944 – June 27, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. An active recording artist since the early 1960s, when he started his career as the lead singer of his family musical group the Valentinos and as Sam Cooke's backing guitarist, Womack's career spanned more than 50 years, during which he played in the styles of R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country.
Womack was the singer on Cloud of unknowing
I am glad that Through Gorillaz I got to know Bobby Womack, otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue.
Forgot Snoop did the opening song.
Superfast Jellyfish- tastes just like chicken ;)
They really like de la Soul -- collaborated together on "Feel Good" too.
Empire Ants featuring Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragons from Gothenburg, Sweden
Another Swedish band! They have a lot of bands for such a small country.
