It's very simple, but getting into habit is hard, but holy shit it helps so much.
Sit down in a quiet place/wear headphones or earplugs. And start off by relaxing your breathing, then focus on relaxing every muscle from the top of your head to tip of your toes.
Once you are relaxed, just focus on breathing, and your mind will wander, but try to go back to your breathing, your goal is to clear your mind of that clutter, to not think for extended periods of time, atleast thats my goal when i do it.
I was a huge skeptic, but i didnt want medications, and meditation helped me learn to manage it better.
