What's unique and particularly dangerous about cocaine (versus other dopamine reuptake inhibitors like methylphinidate) is that it interacts with sodium channels. This is why is stops the heart more readily then other dopaminergic stimulants.
The thing they're talking about here is not related to this (they're hypotheizing that the target receptor is actually an ogliomerization of two non-monoamine receptors), but it's good to know anyways!
