Song of Summer 2015 Contenders: Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Britney and Iggy, Ariana and Miley, Calvin Harris, Major Lazer, or New Contenders
Adam Rifkin stashed this in Music Videos!
No one knows yet what the Song of Summer 2015 will be.
For all we know it's still Bruno Mars Uptown Funk.
Will put some candidates on this page.
79 Songs of Summer Ranked:
Esquire Top 40 Songs of Summer 2015:
Taylor Swift - Bad Blood
"Shut Up and Dance," Walk the Moon
Billboard: "With its mix of rock and dance, and its continued rise (as it reaches No. 1 on Adult Pop Songs this week), a sustained run in the Hot 100's top 10 seems likely, making it strongly in play for top 2015 summer smash."
Natalie lL Rose featuring Jeremih - Somebody
Nicki Minaj - The Night Is Still Young:
Billboard: "Easily the poppiest single yet from Minaj's The Pinkprint, and in the tradition of past smashes like "Super Bass" and "Starships." It debuts at No. 28 on Pop Songs and No. 93 on the Hot 100 this week."
Calvin Harris - Pray to God
Billboard: "HAIM didn't quite break through at radio with any singles from its debut album Days Are Gone ("Forever" dented the Pop, Adult Pop and Alternative Songs charts). This collab with hitmaker Harris (along with the trio's elevated profile after joining Taylor Swift's celeb friend circle) could win over programmers at last (and better set the act up for its next album, as well)."
"Ex's & Oh's," Elle King
Billboard: "RCA first previewed the song late last year and it's logged a measured rise since. Now with an HBO Now synch, the feisty, and catchy track (from comedian Rob Schneider's daughter) debuts on Alternative Songs (at No. 39) and could finally be on its way to widespread airplay."
"Ghost Town," Adam Lambert
Billboard: "Can a song with a wordless whistle as its hook become a hit? (J. Geils Band's "Centerfold," Roxette's "Joyride" and Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" combine whistling with traditional choruses …) At least it's a catchy whistle, as are the song's (sung) verses. Honorable ghost town mention: Madonna's "Ghosttown""
"Honey, I'm Good," Andy Grammer
"Hey Mama," David Guetta, featuring Nicki Minaj and Afrojack
Billboard: "Two high-energy hits – "Good" and "Mama" – are soaring toward the Hot 100's top 10. Timing could be on the songs' sides, as they could challenge for the chart's upper reaches just as summer kicks in."
"Trap Queen," Fetty Wap (honorable rap mention: "Nasty Freestyle," T-Wayne)
Billboard: "Both hits represent the rise of indie viral rap hits, with the tracks having bounded into the Hot 100's top 10. Radio lags far behind their sales and streaming activity, however; if airplay can catch up, the atypical pop hits sport a greater chance in their campaigns for summer success."
Billboard: "The Jamaican artist's sunny 2012 reggae/pop song has hit new heights following its remix by Felix Jaehn. It bounds 63-47 in its third week on the Hot 100 after hitting the top 10 in more than 15 countries. It's also currently No. 1 in the UK. Honorable reggae mention: From the act with last year's No. 2 song of the summer: "No Way No," by MAGIC!"
Well you know my pick: http://pandawhale.com/post/62667/tedashii-dum-dum-feat-lecrae
If not that then the Bruno Mars one might not be completely played out.
You know what really bugs though? That completely dead "shut up and dance" is making a huge comeback.
If it makes you feel better the OMI song is from 2012.
But yeah Uptown Funk is making a comeback alongside Shut Up and Dance.
That Tedashii song is growing on me.
Do you like the new Wiz Khalifa or Snoop Dogg songs?
