Non-architects rarely get to hear architects talk about the social trends that ultimately create the context of a building over time: corruption, political change, NIMBYism, the weight of history, even the disappearing need for intrusive telecom equipment. It's even more interesting when the subject is a set of buildings widely considered by non-architects to be horrific failures.

I'm unclear on why non-architects consider them failures. Because expensive? Ugly? Something else?
