Parkinson's linked to abnormal gut flora

Did not know that digestive difficulties are one of the first signs of Parkinson's, but now researchers in Finland have found clear abnormalities in the microflora and gut nerves of people with the disease.

Makes sense now that I've heard it, but the guts are easier to study than the brain:

If researchers determine that there are specific and consistent differences in the gut, bacteria may serve as biomarkers — objective measurements to diagnose or track PD. As the gut is much more accessible than the brain and can be analyzed through stool samples, a bacterial biomarker is an attractive prospect.
