Elk vs. Photographer at Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Curious young elk is persistent in trying to rut with this photographer.  The elk becomes a little more leery when the guy stands up, verifying the rule of making yourself look large to animals, to deter an attack.  The video is long, but entertaining, and it does add to the video by showing how long this encounter went on.

Sad to see the elk was put down later due to it's lack of fear and aggressiveness with humans.  The NPS said it was not due to this particular encounter, but due to people that started feeding the elk long before, and made the elk not fear humans.

I would have thought it would be good that the elk not fear humans. Sad.
