Measuring the surface area of practically any physical thing depends very much on the size of your measuring probe. The more precise you measure, the larger the area is going to be.
At some point you'd be measuring each tiny wrinkle in the skin, each hair, each scale and little specks of dust, each fiber within the hair, the surface of each cell down to the structure of molecules and atoms.
It's like the length of a coast line.
