Klayers gotta Klay, Jared.
Phil Klay served with the U.S. Marines in Iraq during the 2007 and 2008 surge. Upon his return, he wrote Redeployment, which won the National Book Award for fiction in 2014. Today, the U.S. House voted to halt a program aimed at resettling thousands of Syrian refugees. In a series of tweets reacting to the news, Klay wrote, "It's only during frightening times when you get to find out if your country really deserves to call itself the 'home of the brave.'"
