OK I can admit when I was wrong. Turns out that immigrant households -- some of whom might be citizens or green card holders -- do use social safety net programs at a higher rate than native households. Even after more than 20 years in the country, a high proportion of households require welfare.

Even if they require welfare that's not necessarily a negative given their contribution to society.
