Science slogs along sometimes, proving and re-proving what our mamas told us years ago. Today in utter obviousness: eating apples, tofu and cauliflower every day will help you lose weight. On the other hand, eating potatoes every day will not. Why are studies like this necessary? Because apparently Americans' favorite fruit is fruit juice, and our favorite vegetable is potatoes.

I wonder how we teach Americans that fruit juice and potatoes are not a good way to consume fruits and vegetables.
