He's looking at it like a VC, not an entrepreneur.
I think it's the same reason entrepreneurs start companies, to do something awesome. The money, if there is any that comes along, is secondary or tertiary to vicariously living through someone else's startup and giving people the opportunities that were hard for you tofind and overcome.
I hope angel investing isn't the new dot com bubble and day trading where everybody and their dentist thought you could get rich investing in tech companies without knowing anything about what makes them work or makes them successful.
