I would seriously not give this a passing grade for a 5th-grader.

I wanted to read a review, and instead I got ... an inane, diatribe against Monster, Beats, Crap and who-knows-what-else.

I'm not sure I even now understand -- are the headphones good, or does this guy just have a thing against Beats by Dre?

They average 3 stars out of five on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Beats-Executive-Over-Ear-Headphones-Silver/dp/B008EQ1ZAG

No review needed -- it means the headphones are so-so.

Thank you. :)

Crowdsourced reviews, in my opinion, when they're not being hijacked by a pay-per-review system, are fairly accurate. I won't see a movie that has lower than 7.0 on IMDB or worse than 70% on rotten tomatoes, unless I have a really good reason. And usually, I'd only pay to see a movie in theaters if it's better than 80%.

That's a good rule of thumb.

Occasionally there's a good reason to buy/watch something not loved by the crowd.

But those are rare.

Yours is a scientistic approach.

Cloud atlas is one. 8.4/10 on IMDB (see it), 61% on Rotten Tomatoes (don't see it).

Sometimes, the feelings an experience evokes is the deciding factor:
