"Remember that relationships are progressions." ~ @johnolilly
John Lilly just published Tips for Entrepreneurs from a First Year VC on Pando Daily.
In 2011 he took first meetings with 350 companies, after which he declares life as a VC is a sea of meetings.
My favorite piece of advice in the article is about relationships:
Remember that relationships are progressions. Don’t read too much into any particular interaction. Some investors ask a bunch of questions in first meetings. Some listen more and engage more as the process goes on. Everyone is different. When in doubt about what they’re thinking, ask!
He also points out that timing is everything, so don't think there's something wrong with you if a VC says no.
He met 350 companies last year and invested in 4; chances are good for any given company that you'll be a 99%er but you gotta be persistent, be resilient, and keep at it.

I also like that because John wanted to replace the picture with rainbows and unicorns, he reblogged his article on Tumblr.
