From an outsiders perspective, there is both good and bad. The fact that he has had two chiefs of staff come and go -- although one ostensibly left to run for mayor of Chicago -- seems concerning to the teamwork dynamic of the oval office; perhaps communication, clear lines of responsibility, and more traditional role definitions would help elucidate and clear tensions. On the other hand, one could argue that Valerie's presence has assured the president has stuck to his principles on certain issues -- especially championing women rights -- even at the cost electoral votes.
Either way, clearly she is one -- if not the -- most powerful women in the world.
