iPhone app rejected by Apple for being too webby | Sencha Forum Thread

I didn't realize that apple required you to make use of NaCL advantages (access to hardware which web apps don't get, such as the accelerometer).

I wonder what the consequences of that will be. I would think that many apps don't particularly need such features, and would be pressured to find a way to use them simply to be allowed to have an iPhone app.

Apple quote from the forum thread:

We found that the experience your app provides is not sufficiently different from a web browsing experience, as it would be by incorporating native iOS functionality.

App Store Review Guidelines.

...

We encourage you to review your app concept and evaluate whether you can incorporate additional features to enhance the user experience.

If you cannot - or choose not to - revise your app to be in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines, you may wish to build an HTML5 web app instead. You can distribute web apps directly on your web site; the App Store does not accept or distribute web apps.

If this were really true, wouldn't Apple ban all PhoneGap apps?

And yet, PhoneGap is more popular than ever.
