It was done by a semi-famous painter here in Laguna Beach maybe 7 or 8 years ago as commissioned by the Ritz-Carlton. If you see it in person, the texture and depth of the oil paints is so amazing that it looks 3d. My friend and I tried to take some 3d pictures of it, but this was long before 3d cameras at the consumer level existed.
