Going on an escalator is a very advanced dog skill, one that challenges even the most highly trained guide dogs. For one thing the little grooves on the steps are said to be painful on their paws. Guide Dogs for the Blind makes all their dogs wear protective booties before going on escalators. But also, going downhill is awkward for dogs... much harder than going uphill. For a dog, this is a very very steep downhill!
