They are no longer just tax-and-spend socialists! They are pragmatic and transparent in delivering services to their citizens. "The state is popular not because it is big but because it works. A Swede pays tax more willingly than a Californian because he gets decent schools and free health care."
I just went back and re-read this article. It's even more relevant now than 18 months ago.
