Sergey, thanks for posting Scoble interviewing Marc Andreessen.

Is there a main takeaway from the video before I dive into all 37 minutes of it?

Well, main takeaway is that we will live in "Minority Report". Service industry will know everything about consumers to provide customized services and customized pricing.

So it's the good version of Minority Report where everything is personalized.

As opposed to the Minority Report where the police know everything you're thinking of doing. :)

Honestly, I do not remember what the Minority Report was about. I only remember the scene, where Tom Cruise comes to Gap and they recognize him and offer personalized services.Problem is, the line is too thin and the decision making process about how your data will be used will be harder to to figure out than the ways to collect and use the data.

Plot from IMDB: "In the year 2054 A.D. crime is virtually eliminated from Washington D.C. thanks to an elite law enforcing squad "Precrime". They use three gifted humans (called "Pre-Cogs") with special powers to see into the future and predict crimes beforehand. John Anderton heads Precrime and believes the system's flawlessness steadfastly. However one day the Pre-Cogs predict that Anderton will commit a murder himself in the next 36 hours. Worse, Anderton doesn't even know the victim. He decides to get to the mystery's core by finding out the 'minority report' which means the prediction of the female Pre-Cog Agatha that "might" tell a different story and prove Anderton innocent."

And to your point: Yes, it's really hard to know where your data will end up being used.
