Earlier today, Google launched Google Keep, a cloud-based note taking service designed to help people keep track of their thoughts, scribbles and notes. It's an obvious smack at the popular Evernote service.

With Keep you can quickly jot ideas down when you think of them and even include checklists and photos to keep track of what’s important to you. Your notes are safely stored in Google Drive and synced to all your devices so you can always have them at hand. 

Drew Olanoff of TechCrunch thinks Google Keep could compete with Evernote AND Pinterest...

Why is Keep more valuable to Google than Reader?  Two words: Google Drive

Reader had MAYBE a million users.

Keep, if they commit to it, will be on every Android device.

Keep has the potential to be used by a billion people.

More importantly, Keep is important to Googler productivity.

Usually tools that Googlers NEED (gmail, calendar) Google does an awesome job building.

Google did offer it years ago. It was called Google Notebook.

Everything I read says it's private and personal like Pocket and Evernote.

Not public and social like Pinterest and PandaWhale.
