Theoretical physicist Dirk Brockmann used the dollar bill tracking site, Where’s George, to see how money moves, and create new state boundaries based on our economies. The darker the blue lines, the less likely it is a dollar bill will have crossed it.
Fascinating to see that money flows freely between California, Arizona, and western Nevada.
And that New England is its own bloc. And so is the Pacific Northwest.
And that the Mississippi really is a great divider.
And that Florida is pretty much its own entity.
Or that electronic money doesn't really move at all! I wonder what they'd see if they track the flow of cash through the borders of California, Texas, and Florida.
California, Texas, and Florida borders are where a lot of drug dollars flow, right?
