The Debut of the Digital Public Library of America!
Joyce Park stashed this in Code
What made a lot of us so excited about the web in the early days was stuff like this: the promise that information locked up in archives would be freely made available to all. Even though the DPLA had to cancel their launch party -- scheduled for the library that happened to be ground zero of the Boston Marathon bombing -- the true launch was always going to be on the web. API access coming soon!!!
Thanks for saving this, Joyce. I had not heard of this excellent initiative until you mentioned it here.
Seems well designed to work in a world of Kindles, iPads, and Android Tablets.
