Is getting help from others the key to a long life?

Nope.

It is better to give than to receive.

"Those who helped their friends and neighbors, advising and caring for others, tended to live to old age."

Kindness and compassion are important for longevity.

 This is a great message to underscore, though I'm finding it late.  Although I'm not measuring longevity yet, it certainly has been true for me--giving help always gets one through though the rough patches more than receiving.  But, it's important to know how to graciously receive during those times when we do need it--many "givers" do not do this well. 

Reciprocity is an important skill.

It's good to learn how to give AND it's good to learn how to receive.

That is the hardest part, I think...
