I remember this song, album, and video were "banned" because Paul Simon dared to engage the South African's to produce music and "commercial products" at a time when the US had banned all commercial relationships with them.  He used exclusively South African musicians. It turns out that his actions brought education to the US and was the catalyst for the ending of apartheid. 

The song seems so quaintly harmless now, while back then it was boycotted and considered illegally subversive. 

Just like Ellen Degeneres' kissing a woman in 1997 was scandalous.

Here we are, 15 years later, and same-sex marriage has been made legal in 11 states so far.
