While it isn't that common, I've seen this play a number of times and I would say most football fans would recognize it as it happened. The use of a hand off or backwards pass resulting in another pass down field should be known to a defense. The only thing this play has is the skip off the turf, which is apparently enough to make the defense stop to think for a second.
